Thomas Hall (DH 315c)
Obv: A deformed dwarf. SIR JEFFERY DUNSTAN MAYOR OF GARRAT.
Rev: TO BE HAD AT THE CURIOSITY HOUSE CITY ROAD ٭ NEAR | FINSBURY SQUARE | LONDON | 1795.
Edge: Plain (not in collar).

Notes:

Sir Jeffrey DunstanThomas Hall was a taxidermist, curiosity dealer, and the proprietor of an exhibition of stuffed animals and birds.

The "deformed dwarf" depicted on obverse is Sir Jeffrey Dunstan who was hired by Hall to accompany the exhibition as a huckster when it went on display at Bartholomew Fair.

"Mayor of Garrat" was a sham title given out during mock elections in the small hamlet of Garrat, located between Wandsworth and Tooting. It became something of a festival with some very interesting characters vying for the coveted title of Mayor; Sir Jeffrey being the most famous.

Sir Jeffrey Dunstan died in 1797 from over drinking.
